It fails from behind

A seawall almost never fails because the wall broke. It fails because the fill behind it washed out through a joint or a failed weep, and the wall then has nothing to hold. Sinkholes in the yard behind a wall are the warning.

Cap, panel or riprap

A new cap on a sound wall, new panels and tiebacks, or rock in front of it are three very different jobs on the same stretch of shoreline. Which one applies is a look, not a photo.
